Counsellors

We have 3 counsellors available for students and whanau of Papatoetoe High. Jason (HOD), Suchi and Julien (who is covering for Chrissy while she is on leave). They are all members of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). NZAC membership ensures a high standard of care and respect for confidentiality for the student. Counselling is a service where students gain support for a range of reasons, including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, trauma, relationship issues, school/home issues, anger management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving. We work alongside the student to facilitate self-understanding, and support in navigating the often difficult and confusing stage of adolescence.

We also have some in school youth workers (from PACT, Standup and Check and Connect) who provide additional support around things like: leaving school, addiction support, behavioural mentoring, life skills coaching, career pathways.
