
Curriculum, Years 9 - 10
Year 9
At Year 9 the emphasis is to provide a foundation of subjects.
Students have four periods a week of English and Mathematics, three periods of Science, Social Studies and Technology, and two periods of Physical Education.
Students also study Finance, Language and Health for the year’s course, as well as Art and Music for ½ year each.
The five core subjects* continue into Year 10 as compulsory subjects.

Technology is divided into two half year modules [2 of hard materials, textiles, food technology, or digital technology]

Languages offered are French, Japanese, Maori and Samoan which run as full year courses.

A homeroom class exists for those students who require any learning support in most curriculum areas

Year 10
In Year 10 the emphasis is to further develop the learning of core subjects and skills which will provide a sound foundation for the entry to senior years.
COMPULSORY subjects in Year 10. Everyone takes them and they prepare all students to choose subjects in those Learning Areas in the senior school.

Students can choose any THREE subjects in Year 10. They come from the remaining Learning Areas of Languages, Arts, Technology and Commerce.
