Te Whare Manaakitanga 

The Learning Support Centre is a Learning Hub that offers a safety net for students with diverse needs.  

WHAKATAUKI:  E iti noa ana, nā te aroha  

Nothing can be achieved without a plan, workforce and way of doing things. Although it is small, it is given with love. 

Who are we?  

We are a caring team of specialist teachers and teacher aides who support learners with special needs. 

Our mission and vision statement

To ensure that every student achieves success through whakanautanga and aroha. Our mission is to provide support to meet the needs of our students.  We work collaboratively with students, whanau, teachers and other professionals/experts to provide the structure, resources and Individual Education Plans for our students to thrive at PHS.

Our classes

TWM – Te Whare Manaakitanga - “To support with motherly love – Umbrella of support”

09TK – Te Whare Tiaki - “Help and support holistically”- Year 09 supported class

10TW – Te Whanau Tautawhi - “Family of support” – Year 10 supported class

Year 09 and Year 10 – Literacy support at TWM class

TWM – Year 11, 12, 13Special assessment conditions

Cognitive  support includes reading age assessments, literacy support for remediation and enrichment or Specialist referrals. Utilising innovative strategies to support diverse needs.  Our staff are committed to growth and development to enhance education systems within learning support.  Our commitment is to our tamariki, whanau, community and teaching.

We see both learning and behaviour as integrated and tend to the well-being of our Tamariki to create conducive learning environments.  Our curriculum is flexible and authentic ensuring culture and the arts are part of our mahi.  We offer Mana Potential Programmes to address many of the emotional and social needs of our students.
