Programme

  • An Individual Education Plan (IEP) is designed by parents, staff and the student, to meet goals and assess what support from specialist teachers    or therapists is needed.
  • Students are mainstreamed for all or part of their schooling. Remedial   English and mathematics programmes are provided in the unit, if required.
  • Support in the mainstream is available at all levels.
  • Transition to work, technical institutes or university is given special consideration in senior forms.
  • Reader-writer support is provided for examinations.
  • Students have individual sessions with the physiotherapist, cccupational   and speech-language therapists if required by the IEP.
  • Computer needs are assessed
Facilities
  • Purpose built unit with individual therapy rooms.
  • Computer suite on Intranet.
  • Transport to and from school by state funded taxi service, if ORS funded.

Who May Enrol
  • Any secondary school student with a physical disability is eligible to seek enrolment, who would benefit from the specialist teaching and therapies offered.
  • The roll is limited to 25.
  • The school requests enrolment by 1st August, for entry the following year, although late applications may be considered if vacancies are available.
  • All students are mainstreamed for at least part of their school programme.
  • An enrolment committee assesses the educational opportunities we can    offer the student.
  • Students with Ongoing Resourcing Scheme (ORS), Schools High Health  Needs Funding or ACC funding and in the Southern or Eastern areas of Auckland have priority.
